What we do
Consultation, coordination and collaboration are essential to achieve sustainability
The Wine Observatory on Sustainability (WOS) is a project aiming to share and coordinate experiences, tools and best practices in the field of sustainable vitiviniculture.
Through the use of sharing tools and the promotion of concrete initiatives, the Observatory aims to facilitate the spread of sustainability practices and, at the same time, to promote a coherent and coordinate approach that can facilitate the birth of useful collaborations and tangible synergies.
This idea came from the International Congress “Sustainable Viticulture and Wine Production” (12-13 November 2013, Milan). One of the main outcomes was to consider stakeholders’ consultation, coordination and collaboration as essential to achieve sustainability.
Sharing existing knowledge and disseminating new technical solutions, indeed, are necessary to ensure that all the players can have the tools to improve the environmental, economic and social sustainability of wine production.
What we do
The main objectives of WOS are:
- To create an international network, involving actors and main organizations working on sustainable vitiviniculture all over the world
- To promote useful synergies and share experiences, programs and initiatives on sustainability in wine sector
- To promote a dynamic environment, where web users are actively involved
In order to achieve these objectives, WOS has been conceived and developed to be:
- Scientific consistent: all the contents are submitted under the Scientific Secretariat validation process
Open: WOS is open and encourages broad participation and collaborations.
Dynamic: users can actively participate in activities and discussions
